Unleashing our creative potential
As we grow the Thames Estuary’s potential as a cultural and creative hub, we are committed to supporting our inspiring local artists and engaging our communities to contribute to their creative identity.
In everything we do for the Estuary, we want to capture imagination, change perceptions and provide opportunities. Incredible work is already taking place across the region, driven by talented micro creative industries, start-up companies and dynamic individuals with great ideas and a determination to make things happen.
Over the next two years, Estuary Commissions will support a range of cultural projects with new commissions for Estuary-based producers and artists, from small-scale activity for emerging cultural activists to large scale commissions with a diverse mix of partners.
We will give artists, organisations or creative practitioners who have reached a critical moment in their development access to new support channels to help them realise their creative potential. Support will include access to funding, new partnerships, training and development opportunities. Critically, we will strengthen the Estuary’s cultural network by linking creatives with others working in a similar way, inviting greater collaboration and knowledge sharing.
In early 2020, we commissioned our first four ‘lead partners’ from arts communities across South Essex and North Kent to contribute to the Associated Programme for Estuary 2021.
Creative Estuary is happy to hear from producers, curators, artists, creative practitioners and organisations who are interested in growing their networks and in future commissioning opportunities. We are particularly interested in hearing from artists and organisations from diverse backgrounds and interests.
